Queen's Article - December 2004
Dear NARC & SP,
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! It’s hard to believe this is my last article. Just because it is winter doesn’t mean my year has slowed down any! These past few months have been just as exciting! In October, Tip Top Riding Club hosted their annual Halloween playday and invited DeeDee and I to judge the costume contest. This was a very difficult task! There were way too many cute kids and silly adults! There was a good crowd and lots of fun events! Thank you Tip Top Riding Club, I had a great time!
The very next weekend, I was finally able to attend a Cherokee Open Playday. This club has been very supportive these past few years and they are always a wonderful group to see. They had a great turnout and between the costume contest and the Halloween piñata, I think everyone had a great time!
The very next day, Pepper and I were off to our very own District One’s end of the year banquet. There was another costume contest and this time I hardly recognized anyone! Kristel, Tabitha, and I dressed up as 1920’s flapper girls while BJ was our gangster. I get to dress up every weekend in white and gold, but it sure was fun getting to be a kid again and wear a Halloween Costume with my sisters!
And monsoon season began….I wasn’t able to attend very many playdays in November but I did get invitations to a few banquets. On November 12, the executive board and I attended Wise County Wrangler’s end of the year banquet! They were nice enough to introduce us all, and they even presented DeeDee and I with roses.
The next weekend the rain barely let up. I was able to attend Shepherd’s Valley Riding Club’s annual “Turkey Playday.” Everyone was very nice and friendly. Macey Lough even presented me with a bouquet of roses! They were beautiful. Thank you Macey! After introductions and one event I rushed home to get ready for District Ten’s Awards’ Banquet. With all the home cooked food, the Chinese gift exchange and the fellowship I didn’t want it to end!
The next weekend, I didn’t “deck the halls with bells and holly”, but I decorated my horse with ribbons, bells, and lights! He wasn’t too excited about that, but he survived the parade. This parade was a blast. There were so many people lining the streets, I had to have my dad up there with me to help wave to everybody!
As my year as Miss NARC & SP 2004 is coming to an end I would like to thank the National Association for all your support, The Kuykendall clan (which includes the family down the street, the Shorts) for all the fun times, and especially my family for all their hard work, dedication, and support. I really appreciate everything! This year would not have been such a success without the group effort! Thank you!
Shannon
