Dear NARC & SP,

Happy 4th of July!  Will your horses be scared of the fireworks this year?  I am looking forward to a big crowd at the 4th of July Parade!  I hope July is just as busy as June has been.   Pepper and I have been making our rounds and having fun!

The first weekend of June, I attended the Parade and Drill Mini Competition in Boyd at Salt Creek Arena.  With the hot weather, I was excited we were at an arena with an air conditioned room.  During introductions a couple of our National Queen Contestants 2005 were introduced for the very first time.  If you haven’t already seen or heard, the three girls running this year are Amber Kinder from District Two, Janea James from District Six, and Dee Dee Hill from District Seven.  These are three fine ladies; if you get a chance give them a good “Howdy!”

The next weekend, David and I (as Pepper and Dianna were out of town on a truck run) attended the Friday night fundraiser playday for the Vision Junior Drill Team. There was a silent auction and everything!

By Sunday the Kuykendall’s made it back in time for the Queen’s Bingo!  This was a blast; I’ve never heard the word “BINGO” said so much.  The Queens prepared the snacks for everyone. I was completely amazed at how much Mikey Kelley can eat.  He was our number one customer.  On behalf of the Queens’ Committee I would like to say “Thank you” to everyone who participated.

The next Friday night the District Seven royalty hosted a playday. I was not able to attend, but from what I hear they had a good turn out.  Natalie Dennis won a buckle that night and was nice enough to donate it to the Queens’ Committee.  We are going to award it to whoever runs the fastest barrel time at the Queen’s Playday. So, someone has a chance to win two buckles that day!

The next day was Pony Express at Joshua’s arena; the arena ran great for all the “flooding” we’ve had.  It was nice to see a good crowd there.  My horse wasn’t confused this go around; he actually had someone to run against.  There were a few accidents, but everyone was back on their horse by the night’s end.  The funny part is we got a few incidents on camera, so don’t be surprised if there is a bloopers video at the end of the year.

On a personal note, I am now moved to Stephenville (horses and all.)  I am trying to get a head start on college. I graduated Friday night of the Trail Ride, rode all weekend (horses and jet-skis) then started class on the following Tuesday.  So, it has been a busy past couple of weeks.
