Queen's Article - March 2004
Dear NARC & SP,
First and foremost, what did you think about “Pepper’s Farewell Tour” jacket? He is trying to outdo me in every way possible. He is starting to out dress me and I heard he wants a sign bigger than mine! Even though he is trying to show me up he is a great president and I am having a great time so far!
The January Convention went rather well this year. The Queens’ Committee had a great turn out in the meeting. It is great to have the District Queens involved as well as the Club Sweethearts. The more the merrier! The Queens’ Committee set a lot of dates and we have a lot of fun activities planned this year (as usual!) Brandi is doing a great job this year!
The day after the Convention we headed up to Fort Worth for the Stock Show Rodeo Grand Entry. The Shepherd’s Valley Cowboy Church Riding Club was kind enough to invite me to ride with them. This was a fun-filled afternoon and I enjoyed being escorted by the Kuykendalls, the Shorts, and my parents. I was one of only two girls being introduced that afternoon. The other girl just happened to be Miss Rodeo Texas!
The second night I was introduced at the Fort Worth Stock Show Rodeo was on Association night! I was proud of everyone there. We did a great job of representing the NARC & SP. There were about five or six of our girls introduced from horseback and a lot more from the press box. Each and every girl had her shiniest outfit on and they all looked great underneath the bright lights! Like every time, this was a night to remember!
On February 14th, I was supposed to attend a playday in Alvarado to support the Vision Drill Team, but it was snowed out. I spoke to Kathy Hill afterwards and she was shocked that only she could plan a playday and have it snowed out! I am looking forward to attending the rescheduled playday in the future.
On February 21 I attended my first playday as the National Queen. King B held a playday at Joshua’s arena and they had a great turn out! There were some really nice runs, but you could definitely tell it was the first playday of the year. There was a little bit of bucking going on. I think the horses confused “playday” with “rodeo!” All in all, this was a fun playday!
I have been receiving a lot of invitations! Please feel free to send me more---
